freesoul fall 2010

amazing.

via fashion gone rogue

cut me up

loving the trend of laser-cut accessories as mentioned on style.com:

the only problem? these beauties will knock you back at least a grand each. ouch.

here are some wallet-friendly options for those of us without a trust fund:

borrowed from the boys

i love the size & shape of this tee - big & boyfriend inspired - perfect for those days you just want to wear something loose & lazy. i balanced the simplicity of the tee with tie-dye cutoffs - which added a little funk to an otherwise plain outfit. add some seriously comfy peekaboo sanadals & layers of bangles & you're set - in my case, to the farmers market to pick up some fresh meat & veggies. mennonites really do sell the best food!

lna tee, bullhead shorts, spring sandals, random bracelets

p.s. sorry the quality of the pic is so shitty - i was alone today & had to make by with my camera's self timer! better pics in the future i promise!

p.s.s. i just moved - hence the random coat rack still on the floor, waiting to be put up :)

ko - capable

a sad song with a seriously catchy chorus - love it

check out ko - an up-and-coming folk singer/rapper from toronto - haven't heard much like him before!

ombre highlights

a hair trend as of late has been the intentional-roots, dark on top/light on bottom, ombre hair look. it has been showing up on celebs & street style blogs like crazy:

ok - so personally i think it looks fantastic on brunettes (with the exception of ashlee simpson) - it's different, edgy, and i would so rock it......... if it weren't for the fact that i have blonde hair (and not willing to go brown). i just don't think this trend looks that great on blondes:

i mean... if erin wasson can't pull it off, is there any hope? a win for the brunettes ~

sequin mini

i love the styling of this all saints look:

a casual grey tee & worn motorcyle ankle boots jazzed up by a sparkly gold mini. i love unexpected pieces with an otherwise simple outfit!

where has all saints been all my life anyway? my wallet could be in serious trouble

love this girl's look

this girl has serious style. i only wish i dressed like this when i was 15! love her.

fall 2010 trend: socks with sandals

a few designers sent their models down the SS10 runways wearing socks with sandals, including burberry, dior, and marni:

love it or hate it, this trend seems to be sticking around for FW10. most recently, alexander wang (probably the most watched designer right now for of-the-moment looks - the messy side braid anyone?) showed most of his resort 2011 looks with the socks/sandals combo:

while i can understand why people would hate this trend, i think it can definately work with certain outfits. the socks absolutely have to be pretty - sheer neutral colours a la burberry or with a little shimmer as seen at dior. you don't want to wear your basic white hanes socks with this look - it will not work.

stick to high heels - socks won't look right with flat sandals. you can stick to the same colour family as your sandals (neutral socks with neutral sandals at burberry; purple shimmerry socks with purple heels at dior) for a more understated look; or go completely the opposite colour of your shoes for a more obvious look (white socks with black heels at alexander wang). you can even pair neon socks with neutral shoes if you really want to add a pop of colour to your outfit!

madewell

i officially love madewell. think of the brand as j. crew's edgier, more boho little sister. they launched their website not too long ago, and i think i would pretty much buy everything they have to offer!  their styling is genius - i could burn a serious hole in my pocket on this website. i'm actually anxiously awaiting this dress in the mail from shopbop! some of the other pieces i'm lusting after:

how insanely cool is this tank?

the perfect flowy top to pair with skinny jeans or ripped denim shorts

madewell's speciality is their denim - of which these ripped straighties are no exception... love love them

i'm obsessed with scarves - a scarf like this will take any plain or neutral outfit to the next level. it's so bright and fun!

check it all out at madewell.com! :)

oohilove

so i just found this great new website (sorry if this is a super late find!) that i wanted to share with you all.

it's call oohilove, and it's like ebay for luxury items only. you can actually score christian louboutins or louis vitton bags for up to 95% off the original price

you buy a package of bids starting at $30. items start around $.50, and every time you bid the item increases $0.02 in price, and 10 seconds is added onto the bid time. the site also has a "bid assistant" much like ebay, where you can enter the price or number of bids you're willing to go up to and the site will automatically bid for you.

best yet, they ship to canada! which is a step above sites like ruelala and giltgroupe who do not.

oohilove has a facebook group as well where you can win free bids through coupon codes. happy bidding! :)

chanel haute couture

karl = genius. we all know this fact.

for his chanel fall 2010 couture collection, uncle k offered look after look of perfection (as always)

how amazing are those embellished cuffs?

but the best part of the collection for me was the makeup... i am not usually a fan of a red lip or nails, but for some reason they complemented the clothes so well.

i will definately be picking up le vernis in rouge fatale for this fall. love it!

lust!

if you're not quite into the clog trend, these puppies are the next best thing....

... a sort of bootie-clog hybrid.

seriously loving these. i'm imagining pairing them with skinny jeans and a flowy top.... yes i can see it now :)

available at free people.

heat wave

WOW it's hot!

i'm one of the unlucky souls without air conditioning.... my apartment is sweltering :(  33 degrees inside my house today! crazyness!

luckily i was able to round up a couple of my favourite girlies and we made our way to grand bend for the day. it was a perfect beach day on a perfect beach. the water temperature was perfectly cold so that's where we spent most of our day. i could have stayed there until the sun went down. it was great! p.s. zero gravity chairs definately make lazing on the sand much much more enjoyable :)

tomorrow is a different story. i am stranded at home unfortunately because my car is dead, stuck in my driveway. i think i need a new battery. i might have to make my way down to victoria park for the day, sit in the shade and read a good book :)

how are you all staying cool in this heat? am i the only sucker without AC?

welcome!

Follow my blog with bloglovin

a big hello to all in the blogosphere :)

this is my first post of a blog that i've wanted to start for awhile now - to share with others my life, loves, and lusts, whether it be fashion, style, beauty, food, music.... anything really :)  hoping to meet a lot of great people along the way!

i am very laid-back, relaxed, a dreamer. my own style definately reflects my personality. i've always thought i should have been born in california with the way i view life and the things i enjoy. my style is casual but contemporary... i look to street style blogs and celebrities (favs include jessica alba, nicole ritchie and vanessa hudgens) for fashion inspiration. i love magazine editorial photography... in another life maybe i was a photographer but unfortunately not this one :)  i enjoy great alternative and rock music (and a splash of hip hop as well). for home design i prefer minimalistic design, less is more for me :) i love looking at upcoming home trends/techniques and how i would interpret them for my dream house.

i will share with you all anything that i find interesting, beautiful, or exciting... along the way i will let you in on glimpses of my own life --> different events, places, outfits.

i'm looking forward to meeting and hearing from you all :)  always appreciate comments and suggestions. let's go through this life together!
